Vibrant Mural for Grocery Store in Los Angeles

I recently had the joy of painting this bold, welcoming mural for El Super, a Hispanic supermarket chain based in Los Angeles, for their Bell Gardens location. The client wanted something bright, floral, and full of life to greet customers as they entered the store’s flower section.

The mural lives in the store’s floral section and features bold, oversized blooms and leafy shapes inspired by the natural beauty of California wildflowers and organic shapes using a color palette inspired by El Super’s brand colors. Shades of green, red, and pink connect with the store's identity while helping the art feel at home in their space. The mural also includes playful, hand-lettered text that says “Welcome to El Super Bell Gardens” a warm message that instantly connects with the community. The goal was to transform a functional corner of the store into a bright and welcoming focal point that celebrates nature, freshness, and joy.

This project was about more than just beautifying a wall. It was about creating an emotional experience for shoppers. The mural adds color, warmth, and a sense of vibrancy to the space. It also encourages connection and community through art.

As supermarkets continue to look for creative ways to engage customers, projects like this show how murals can bring a meaningful and lasting impact right inside the aisles.

Murals Are Transforming Supermarkets into Community Landmarks

Supermarkets across the globe are embracing murals as a powerful tool to enhance customer experience, celebrate local culture, and strengthen community ties.

In Cincinnati, Kroger has partnered with ArtWorks to install over 50 murals in its stores nationwide. These artworks not only beautify the shopping environment but also evoke memories and foster a sense of belonging among customers.

Similarly, in Berlin, PENNY supermarkets collaborated with local artists to transform entire store exteriors with vibrant urban art. This initiative not only revitalized the store’s appearance but also attracted a younger demographic, turning routine shopping trips into engaging experiences.

In Portland, Oregon, the Woodstock Mural on the New Seasons Market store depicts themes of commerce, education, and the outdoors, integrating local landmarks and mythology to reflect the community’s identity.

These examples illustrate how murals can transform supermarkets from mere retail spaces into community landmarks, enhancing brand identity and customer engagement.

For supermarkets looking to differentiate themselves and foster deeper connections with their communities, investing in mural art offers a compelling avenue to achieve these goals.

Whether you're a local business in Los Angeles looking for a muralist, or a brand seeking custom illustration or hand-lettering that feels joyful, colorful, and engaging, I’d love to help bring your space or idea to life.
